How To Start A Blog

Many of my friends already know that I have a blog even though way back, I didn't want anyone to know about it. I was shy before and didn't want people to know the other side of me. But I guess there are really no secrets that could be kept forever. And I learned to understand that I could never be happy if I kept on controlling myself and shell myself. So I blogged and blogged and people eventually knew about it. To my surprise some of them wanted to do the same thing, blog.

So here I am writing this post to give you information to help you start your blog.

1. Name Your Blog
I made this step first on the list because I find it very important. Your blog name is your brand name hence, it should summarize your blog as a whole. In this step, you will not only name your blog but will also plan your blog. You have to decide  what your blog will be (ex. fashion, makeup, lifestyle, diy, personal, art, etc) and who will be your market (teens, adults, artist, musician, male, young girls, fashionistas, etc). You have to decide on that first before you could actually make a good blog name. Let say you want to make a fashion blog and your market are girls then you can name your blog as DaretoWear or StyleSensation. But you can also name your blog out of the blue to make it sound unique, say you name it with things that are associated to you for example you love cupcakes so much then you can name it the CupcakeChronicles and whatnot. Make sure you name it about yourself to create personal touch to your readers.

Again, this step is important because it is your brand name. People will remember your blog with your blog name and not your name most of the time. Yes you can change your blog name but it will create confusion. I don't suggest changing blog names because your readers will get lost and may not be able to check your blog. Also, if you don't have any idea of what to name your blog, you can just simply name it with your name! Easy!

2. Choose your Blogging Platform
There are tons of sites in the web where you could start your blog.  The most popular are Blogger, Wordpress and Tumblr. I recommend you use blogger because I find blogger the easiest to navigate and use. Another thing I love about it is because it is tied up with google so you don't have to worry about google optimization.

3. Design your Blog
Site hosts like Blogger have templates that you could use to design your blog. You can just be okay with it but if you like to tweak things up you can do so. To make your blog personal you have to make your own banner, change the color theme according to your liking, change the layout and arrange your sidebar. Designing your own blog will take time and will require at least basic knowledge on html. This will be a very long post if I am to discuss blog designing thoroughly so I think I will make a separate post  for that.

4. Acquiring a Domain (.COM)
When you sign up with blogging platforms, your blog url will automatically look like " (depending in what platform you use) and I find that ugly like super ugly. If you want to own a domain or name your site with .com you have to buy and acquire it. There are so many domain hosts that you could choose from like ,, and many more. Domains like .com, .org, .info and others differ in prices from one host to another.  You better search Google if you want more options.

I think that's pretty much it. I know it sounds crazy hard but you'll get used to it. It's always hard at the start but once you get the hang of it, it will just be a blink of an eye. I find designing the blog the hardest part. I don't know about you guys but the designing and creation process is so hard because it's like trial and error. One important tip I could give you in designing your blog is to always back up your template. Anyway, I hope you find this informative and that I was able to help you in some way (i guess). I think I will be making more of "blogging tutorial" posts soon and definitely a more in depth information of each steps I gave. What 'ya think?
