DIY: Ombre Shorts

Its scorching hot outside. Its the hottest summer I've ever had. Pheww! -.- I have to carry a bottle of water even inside the house and drink water every now and then to prevent dehydration.

Anyway, I've seen a lot of photos and videos all over the internet about acid washed shorts and stuff and then a few days ago, I've read Ms Eggplant's Chronicles' DIY on Ombre shorts so I decided to make one too. I also based this tutorial in one of the videos I saw in Youtube. Although I'm not used to wear shorts even at home, why not? After all, the world is so hot and I cannot dare to wear something long as pajamas these days. The problem is, I cut it really short -.- but I think it will do. In the first place, I intend to wear it only at home.

What you will need:
-old pants/short
-Scissor
-Blade
-Tweezers
-Pail
-Bleach
-Water

Procedure:
Pull out your old pants or shorts.
I have never used this pants for so long, the last time I used this was in high school. This was a bit bigger for me before and luckily it already fits on me well.

Cut the pants on your desired length. You can either cut it straight or slantingly (inverted triangle). Cut the front portion an inch longer than the back part.
I adjusted and cut again the back part for about an inch because  I didn't get it exactly  at first (as you can see at the photo)

Using a tweezer, pull out the white threads at the edge and use a blade to distress it a bit.

Use any pale or shallow container and dilute the bleach in a small amount of water. Soak the part of the short you want to bleach with until you achieve your desired color. Then wash it with pure water to stop the bleaching process.
I ran out of bleach and diluted it with too much water so it took me almost five hours to achieve the color -.-

Let it dry and then tadaaaa! :) You're done! Finish product!

Easy right?  I got the right gradient effect that I want and I was able to remade this piece of garment that I almost threw out. I hope you like it! :D The next thing I want to try is dip dying shorts or shirts in colors. How about that? :)
